1 Thessalonians 5: 16 – 18
(NET Bible)

Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks.  For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Father, sometimes when our tears fall or our pain is intense, we can’t see where You are taking us.

Sometimes – almost every time – we overlook the fact that this is the will of Your Son concerning us and anything that is Your will can only bring us good. We know this but still we hurt and still we cry. Come to us in our need and while we pray. Where it is not possible for us to have joy, give us Your joy.  Where peace is lacking, send peace.  And in everything, Lord, we will give You all thanks for no one can love us as You do.

2 Timothy1:12
New English Translation

I know the one in whom my faith is set and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Father, how great You are and how thankful we are to know You. You have promised to never leave us or forsake us.  We are confident that no matter where we are, we are never lost. No matter what is happening in our lives, You are there. And no matter how often fear tries to overcome us, we can always be reminded that You are able to protect us and those who have been entrusted to us.

We can never give enough thanks or praise for all You do in our lives.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth

Father, we just want to thank You for the world you have made for us. It is never more beautiful than in the spring when the flowers are blooming and the trees are regaining their leaves. The spring rains wash the earth leaving puddles for the children to play in. So we just want to take this time today to thank you for the beauty of the earth and everything in it.

Thank You!

Tomorrow will be Thanksgiving. Today I would like to give thanks. Today it has been 10 years since my husband and I were married. Too often I have failed to thank him for all he does for me so I would like to rectify that on this Thanksgiving Eve. Without him, none of these posts would be listed for you to read because I am computer challenged. I can write. I can’t maneuver through the steps necessary to convince a computer to do what I ask. He sets up my websites, lists the posts for me, and finds the photos to go with them.

Before we were married, I told him I couldn’t cook. I’m not sure he believed me back then. Now he does. Especially when our granddaughter lets him know she would really rather he do it. In the mornings when she’s hungry, it’s Grandpa who gets woke up to make ‘cheesy eggs’. And if I have been up late at night writing, he takes over with the school work until I wake up even though it was my idea to home school in the first place. He makes a really good grandpa!

Grandpa has always made the kitchen his own personal space not only through the cooking but in the clean-up as well. After my bypass surgery, he took over most of the rest of the housework as well. Even now he continues to do all the vacuuming and floor washing to spare me that extra effort. Yet, somehow he finds the energy to change light bulbs, fix leaky toilets, replace the motor on the air conditioning unit, replace the thingy-ma-bob that was keeping the kitchen lights from working and numerous other repairs that home ownership brings. Then, when all that is done, the little one brings him her broken gum ball machines and other toys to be repaired and her mother gets advice from step-dad on how to fix her computer (usually involving a visit from step-dad so he can do the fixing).

After 17 years of single parenthood, I remain in awe of a man who carries the load for me every single day. To me, it is amazing that, in spite of my faults (which are numerous) not a day has gone by in these last ten years that he hasn’t told me he loves me.

Thanks, honey. You are a man among men!
