Hit the high notes!

Everyday as I drive to the hospital where Grandpa is getting his chemo treatments for cancer,  I pass a sign with the picture of Beethoven and the words “Hit the High Notes!”  Everyday it encourages me to look past the exhaustion, look past all the dozens of things I need to do.  It assures me that,  with a little effort, I can hit that high note.

Let me encourage you today as well.  Your loved one might not be fighting cancer,  your little ones might not be special needs but you do have battles you fight every day.   You have struggles you go through each and every day.  It can make you feel totally overwhelmed.   When you reach that point – when you think you’re ready to quit, take a deep breath- reach down inside yourself – and HIT that HIGH note!

Psalm 127:1-2

Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep

Father, so many of us work so hard and struggle so many hours in the day. We try to do so much without coming to You for help. Remind us, as Your people, to spend plenty of time talking with You. Because, no matter how hard we work or how many hours we put into a project, we are wasting our time if You have not blessed our work.

We ‘labor in vain’ unless You are in our work. And don’t ever let us forget that You have given us sleep to help us see each new day in Your light.
