July 24 Verse of the Day

Wednesday, September 17th, 2014

“Because he loves me”, says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.” Psalm 91: 14-16

Father. in a world where danger meets us at every turn, we need Your protection. Just everyday living brings turmoil and, often, outright danger to ourselves and those we love. When those times come, Lord, when tornadoes strike, when flooding threatens our homes, rescue us. Protect us in times of trouble.  Deliver us, Lord, from all evil.

March 11 Verse of the Day

1 Corinthians 10:21

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.

Father, we who are Your people want to be certain that we learn the lessons You would teach us. Help us realize that we can’t live for You if we also lie and cheat and stand with others who do. Help us understand that if our place of business insists that we walk contrary to Your way, that we stand our ground and refuse to disobey Your commandments. Keep us aligned with those who walk in Your ways. Others in the Old Testament – Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego – all stood firm in following only You. We may never have to risk our lives to stand for You but sometimes we risk friendships or livelihoods. Give us the strength of character to take the risks required of us so that we will give honor and glory to You. Help us to be the children in whom You can be pleased.
