Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Father,  today is a low strength day for me.  I need your strength to make it through this day.  Keep me in your sites.  Lift me when I start to fall.  There is so much to do lately.   I am pulled so many ways.

Give me wisdom to work with each situation but most of all, give me the strength promised in Your word.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Lord, weariness comes to us all sometimes.

We feel as if we haven’t the strength to do the work assigned us.  We feel that what we do can’t be our best because we are too tired. Lord, in those days, lift us up. Renew our strength. Help us run the race assigned us.  Put the words in our mouths that You would have us speak. Complete the work for us, Lord.

1 Chronicles 22: 12

Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding.

Father, we ask for Your wisdom each day as we encounter those who need You.  Help us to understand their needs and reach out to them with the help they need.  Speak through us the words they need to hear. Help us to share with them the wisdom and understanding You have given us.

Leviticus 25:35

‘If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you.

Lord,  we in America have forgotten this command You gave Your people so long ago. It’s a command that is still good today but we depend on the government and charitable organizations to take over the responsibility You gave us.    Give us the ability and the desire to help those in need around us. Remind us that You want us to do this. You don’t want us to say ‘go get food stamps, go to such-and-such an organization and get help.’ If we have the food in our cupboards or the money in our pockets, we are the ones You have asked to help.  Help us to stop passing the buck and give us the heart to help our brethren.

Hebrews 13:1-2

Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

Father,  show us those around us who need your love.  Keep us aware of the needy we meet on the way to work or the elderly who need a helping hand.  Help us see the person inside the tattered clothes and the unwashed bodies.  They are Your children and the ones you came to save.

Never let us forget this.  Remind us always to be available to those who You send our way. Give us wisdom to know how best we can meet their need. Never let us forget that we are Your hands reaching out.

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not,  for I am with you;
Be not dismayed,  for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Father, bring Your love and assurance to those who are facing crisis in their lives.  Relieve them of fear that paralyzes.  Strengthen them to be able to do what is necessary to get through each day.  Hold them,  Lord, when they feel alone. Bring peace in the chaos of their lives.

March 7 Verse of the Day

Lamentations 3:25-26

For the Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Lord, in a world where life can be tough for anyone, anywhere, it is good to know that our hope can be in You. It seems that nearly everyone is stressed by the demands of life. Help us to remember that our hope is in You. Help us remember that You are good to those who seek You. Teach us to wait quietly. When the anger over our circumstances overwhelms us, bring us peace and remind us of your hope. Protect us and keep us in the middle of chaos and trouble.

Website Plans

Q: Do you plan related posts in this journal?

A:   If I receive a question, I post an answer.  I allow anyone who wishes to respond to a post to do so through the comment section.  All responses go through the administration page so I can edit out profanity and unrelated advertisements.  Some advertisements I allow if they are related to the question posted.  For instance, the question on prom dresses has a comment posted advising people to check out a prom dress website.  I allowed that because it was pertinent to the question.

Doubting Thomas

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Q: My friend and I have a bet.  He’s naive and gullible.  He actually believes you are a mom.  I say you are just some yahoo with a god complex trying to tell everyone what to do.

A:  Sorry.  You lose.  I am a mom with 6 adult children, 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren all of whom are alive, well and wonderful.  As for the god complex, I already know I don’t know everything.  That’s why this forum allows others to give their opinions as well.  I feel that it’s always good to hear from someone who has been there.  And just in case you don’t recognize your comment, I’ve cleaned up the wording to make it fit for family viewing.  This is a site where anyone can come for advice.  Try to keep it clean.  Okay?
